The Mars Opportunity rover, the longest-running Mars rover, is currently in a tricky situation.
The rover has been caught in the middle of a mega dust storm on the red planet.
The storm is so severe and so big, that dust particles block out the Sun.
The devastating storm has also meant that NASA has lost contact with the rover.
WHAT IS OPPORTUNITY?
Opportunity is a robotic rover that has been on Mars since 2004. It set off from earth on July 7, 2003 as part of NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover program.
Initially, the plan was for the rover to last 90 days. However, it has now exceeded its operating plan by 14 years, 54 days (in Earth time). As of January 23, 2018, the rover had traveled 45.09 kilometres,
