For this activity I have to explain Yusra Mardini story that was podcast and read by Diana Nyad. That explained what made her so popular .
Yusra Mardini was sacred of the water. She used to see her cousins jump in but, she always wondered what was at the bottom. Then she jumped in. Her father started giving Yusra and her older sister, lessons for their swimming. After a few years the people started to protest against the government, then the government started to shoot people that where protesting against them. After a few months they could hear machine guns on their roads. Yusra's father wanted to get their mind off that so he took them to the pools for a, lesson then they saw dirt in the pool and their wrecked roof. Then Yusra started asking their parents to leave on a refuge boat. But they had a little baby sister so they couldn't but then some of their cousins, told them they would take Yusra and their sister. The first time they did it in day but they got spotted by the coast guards, the next time they waited till night, so they had a higher chance of not getting spotted. When they got on the engine broke down out on the sea. Then Yusra and her sister and one more person, swam by pulling the boat. After one hour, her hand was in pain from, holding the rope and legs were numb from the cold water. Then she saw a little boy just watching them swimming and he wasn't just older then her little sister, then she tried to make him laugh. After 3 30 minutes they saw land getting closer and closer. Then they found land.
Kia Ora Josaia,
ReplyDeleteWell done for writing an interesting recount about Yusra’s experience. I can imagine it was very scary for Yusra. She was very brave, wasn’t she? Did you know that her father used to swim in a team and he taught both her and her sister how to swim? Luckily he did otherwise they wouldn't have been able to swim to find help! Now Yusra is getting ready for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. If you had the chance to compete at the Olympics, which event would it be in?
I look forward to reading more of your blog posts soon!
Blog ya later,
