What a great whakatauki and poster! I really like how it’s about honouring the past but also preparing for the future. My favourite whakataukÄ« is Kaua e mate wheke mate ururoa which translates to “don’t die like an octopus, die like a hammerhead shark. It’s about never giving up no matter how hard the struggle is. This activity makes me think I should share a whakataukÄ« with the students in my class each week. Do you think that is a good idea?
